It is with great sadness that we are informed of the death of Phil Horrocks-Taylor.

Phil is rightly called a legend of local rugby who played fly-half for Middlesbrough back in their glory days.

Anyone who has gathered for a beer after a game at Middlesbrough will recall the iconic photo of the three Middlesbrough RUFC fly-halves who became full England Internationals, including Phil on the left.

All at Guisborough RUFC would like to express condolences to Phil’s family and Middlesbrough RUFC.

Phil’s funeral was at Great Ayton on Friday 19 February . The cortege travelled past Acklam Park on the way to the Teesside Crematorium for anyone wishing to pay their respects.

Unfortunately, due to Covid restrictions funeral numbers were limited, so GRUFC were not physically represented but Phil will be in all our thoughts.
