It was an away match for GC at their own ground first time as we were facing Old Lincolnians who also got LCHC as their home ground. Naren won the toss and with perfect outfield & weather conditions elected to bat. Decided Puneet would open with him.
Puneet Effect:
Normally Puneet goes at number 9 and scores 16+ runs in 6-7 balls. So naturally skip wanted quick few runs on the board. However, at first drinks at the 15th over mark he was on 16 for 50 balls. Feeling better as he compared himself with one other opening batsman with similar strike rate. Skip explained his rationale for his upgrade. However, with no patience Naren (nothing new) came back at lightning speed for 8 runs in 17 balls clean bowled.
To prove what the strike rate means to Puneet:

Jiss 48 in 51 balls SR 94.12
Sreejith 14 in 11 balls SR 127.27

Afzal Effect:
Afzal normally gets out at around 35 or when even someone mentions 35 somewhere in ground but with Puneet’s testing patience this time Afzal made 59 in 58 balls (SR 101.72). However, Puneet was maintaining his slow persistent batting, thus testing all other batsmen’s patience. He finally got out for 31 in 69 balls. This includes a 4 run by overthrow and few no balls added to his account. Naren was excited with his dismissal and in fact was praying for it for a while.
Chirag effect:
Scoring for the first time, he was keenly looking for crisps rather than at umpire. He was getting all his doubts cleared by prof, only after 10 minutes to teach Shibin on how to score and promptly left to fix his Shutter.
Finally, GC got 212 in 40 overs with generous 36 Extras from Old Lincolnians. Remember? 4 runs overthrow added to Puneet so technically 40 runs on Extras.
On bowling, Punnet opened with extreme tiredness sitting on fine leg most of the afternoon. He bowled 5 overs, given 6 runs, got one wicket, one maiden over at an economy of 1.20.
Lincolnians all young age group – team name is a misnomer. They all got out at regular intervals in single digit. Jiss got 4 wickets at an economy of 3.14. Sreejith 2 wickets with no runs given. Lincolnians were getting out regularly in single digits with exceptions of D. Chester: 15 in 9 balls. Townhill: 11 in 6 balls.

Purely due to Dan effect:
Previously on honour board, bowled 3 overs and gave 30 runs with an economy of 10. Mostly boundaries but managed one wicket. Let us say batsman missed hitting another six rather. Dan gave hope for Lincolnians.
Prof Effect:
In the very first ball I dropped a catch behind wickets (I was told I need to mention this in report without fail four times by many people and also got 3 Whatsapp messages). In my defence, normally Prof bowls 2 or 3 Extra Large wides first, so was expecting the same. But this time all on target and on 4th ball got last wicket by lbw. Prof says credit to Tenny’s training.
GC had another victory with 168 runs difference as opposition was all out for 64. Should be 198 runs difference. Don’t forget Dan effect.
Naren is now in touch with Lincoln district council and is looking to explore Puneet’s batting career in Test matches in future.
