Another successful month of training for the team and improvements throughout.
Most importantly, on the pitch, the team are coming together. Some drills/moves are working better than others but the overall improvement in handling, running lines and passing is a sight to see.
Communication with the coaching team is much improved with more than half the side in weekly contact regarding the sessions. 20% of the players made it to all four sessions, although unfortunately 40% didn't make it to any, but it's still the holiday season and it's the next month that's really going to count.
It was great to see a couple of new faces over the month and to welcome back an old one in Tom Partridge! Sadly we said goodbye to Dan Bennett who has returned to Wales and Louis Pulford who has gone back to Uni.
Meanwhile, on a Monday, O2 Touch is back and the regulars have returned with a passion! Regularly getting 16+ for the sessions, once the cobwebs were blown off the Fijian style play returned. There's a 40+ year gap between the oldest and youngest players but they're all learning together and the teamwork displayed throughout the sessions is excellent to see.
Sessions continue on a Monday and Wednesday at the Pit from 7pm but look out for a special session on Saturday 12th and the RFU's Pitch Up for Rugby. In the morning, Witham O2 Touch are coming to visit for a friendly get together and it'll be quite the experience for the Templars to face a side that play competitive Touch.
A break for a spot of BBQ and the arrival of the non-touching Templars will give the club a chance to sort out the new seasons memberships and get team, club and individual photo's taken. Then an afternoon training session for the first team running through everything they've put together over the last 10 weeks.
Look forward to seeing you all there.
