Despite the dreadful news that there would be no regular rugby season until January 2021 at the earliest, the numbers at training stayed pretty consistent, to the point that the team decided to try to get together on a Saturday, as well as a Wednesday, to make more use of the light.
Sadly, so far, the Saturday sessions weren't the success the team had been hoping for but we plough forward into October with the hope that they'll pick up.
As for the availability, we still see some saying they'll attend a session and then not turning up. No naming and shaming on a public forum, especially with the season half gone, but they are being spoken to individually and it seems to largely be just one-off instances with very few repeat offenders.
Seven players had 100% attendance for the month, but with Oli missing his first session during September none have managed to carry 100% through all three months - except the player/coach (his birthday falls on a training night, reckon he'll be there?) - in fact Ben has the best attendance 13/15 sessions; Dale, Oli, Sam and Harry all have 12; Brett, Reece, Vinnie, Adi and Ryan all have 11; and Josh, Tolly and Simon all chip in with 10/15. That's pretty consistent considering the circumstances.
Making a very welcome return this month, after an unusual cricket season has drawn to a close, was Jack. Must have a been a shock to the system getting caught up with all the guys, but sadly this month we say goodbye to one of the most committed players. Following medical advise (finally), Brommers is hanging up his scrumcap but will still be involved in the club as much off the pitch as he was on it. You never know, we could see him with a whistle in his hand...
Including Saturdays we could have nine training sessions throughout October including another four Touch sessions on Mondays. A 100% record could be a lot to ask for but here's hoping.
