We are absolutely delighted to confirm that the 1st team have been granted permission to move permanently back home to Olivers Mount.
In what has been a difficult time during lockdown for all clubs on and off the pitch , our community led re development of the ground with support from the Football Foundation, Football Stadia Improvement Fund, Sheffield City Council has continued , and with the support of many local business and of course our hard working and dedicated board of directors and trustees ...that work will see us return home ,proud to give our community and the city of Sheffield step 5 football right in the heart of the Steel City.
We must first of all thank the NCEL board for their help ,guidance and understanding of the difficult position the club has been in and their understanding of the delays to our planned additional ground developments that COVID has presented to us, significant time was lost and inevitable delays to our plans were (and have been ) encountered.
In conjunction with the NCEL board we have come up with a match day plan that the board are happy with while developments continue that will enable step 5 football to be played at Olivers Mount.
We have been in constant dialogue with the NCEL board since lockdown as we continued to develop our facility which will have seen over £1 million invested to bring our 1st team football back home to Sheffield....where we belong.
Competitive 1st team football was last held at Olivers Mount in our NCEL title winning season 2011/12 which saw Russ Eagles squad defy the odds to win NCEL division one and the Presidents Cup.
After 8 long years away the Ambers are back !
The delay’s we’ve encountered due to COVID mean that we have been granted to permission to play while we continue to finish the build of our new player and spectator pitch side facility , which will include Home & Away changing rooms, 2 officials changing rooms , a medical room, hospitality room, new pitch-side spectator toilets , match day kitchen & pay booth .
Our match day COVID action plan for players, officials and spectators has received fantastic praise and recognition from all parties as we look to create the safest possible environment for all while we continue to build & finish this phase of our ground developments.
While we continue to finish this current phase of our developments we thank all visitors for their patience and understanding.
Due to the evolving nature of our developments visiting teams will be communicated the Match day protocols in place prior to their visit and we thank all member clubs for their understanding and patience while we continue to build throughout the season to welcome them to a facility that will grace the NCEL with pride.
Our Olivers Mount complex already boasts, ample on site parking, a licensed clubhouse which houses , 4 changing rooms, a medical room , a classroom/meeting room, spectator toilets and of course the jewel in the crown our £700,000 FIFA Quality 3G pitch Which celebrates its 1st birthday next week !
As we can now confirm our move back home , we would like to place on record our thanks to Pete Whitehead and all at Worksop Town who have of course facilitated the club playing at Sandy Lane which has enabled us to to play our Step 5 football in Worksop, we thank everyone over in Worksop who helped and supported us during our time at Sandy Lane.
The future is now at Olivers Mount and our dream will come true as we welcome our good friends Athersley Recreation to our home on Wednesday 23rd September 19:45 KO in a game that really does bring real football back home .
Spectator information and guidance will be issued next week , as we look to get our “back home “ era off to a great start ..... we will be working on season ticket packages ,incentives for Pro club supporters to attend , sponsor packages etc in the coming days .
Throughout the lockdown we choose as club NOT to reach out to the wider community with help for funding etc as we felt everyone had more than enough on their plate.
However if any businesses or individuals do want to offer their support as we confirm our move back home please contact Steve Holmes on 07930443453 or email Handsworth Support for a range of options to help support including Ground Naming rights ...
We have worked so hard to make this happen and appeal to our local community to the wider footballing community in Sheffield and the surrounding areas to get behind the club ...get involved and make our home your home for non league football.
We have plenty of work still to do before the 1st game .... so we best get back to it !!!
