Handsworth Rugby Union Football Club was founded in 1887, although there is evidence that it is some years older. It is one of the oldest rugby clubs in the UK, and so the world. As you can see we will be celebrating our 127th anniversary season during 2013/2014.

The Club is located on the main A34 between Walsall and Birmingham. At present we have 2 pitches of our own and use of another. The Club House has 2 bars and multiple changing rooms with shower facilities.

During the playing season (September to May) we field 3 senior teams on Saturdays and a Junior Academy section with various age groups on Sunday mornings and just recently we have decided to run a Ladies section and, although numbers are small, there can be no doubting the enthusiasm the ladies have shown. Training sessions also occur both during the playing season and out of season.

During the year we aim to run numerous social functions for the members and their families. These are very varied from race evenings to a Summer Ball. We have a large firework display, which the St Margaret's scout group organise, which is open to the public.

The main Club room is available for hire for club members. There is also a big screen which regularly shows major sporting events as well as any televised Rugby Union games including the RBS 6 Nations Championship.

We have a large membership which includes current and past players, Vice presidents and social members. Many players' wives and partners become social members and often meet on Saturday afternoons to watch the games.

Each year the Club produces a Club book for the members and copies are also given to sponsors amounting to about 300/400 copies. Sponsors place one-page colour adverts for their company in the book. This is very popular and many of our sponsors renew every year.

The cost of such an advert this year will be £50 + VAT and all adverts from our sponsors appear on our web page at www.pitchero/clubs/handsworthrufc.co.uk. We can also arrange direct links to your own website.

Alternatively, or as an extra, you can take out an advertising board at the side of the pitch. These cost £250 + VAT for a full season and are 8' by 2', with subsequent seasons costing £150 + VAT. £1000 + VAT would cover the cost of a sponsored set of shirts, or training tops, as well as an entry in the Club book

The Club also invites all sponsors to regular "Sponsor's Days", usually held on a home league match day. These dates vary year on year, but here you can enjoy a buffet lunch and talk to other sponsors. These days are very popular and thoroughly enjoyed by all those who attend.

Given the current economic climate we appreciate that such sponsorships are not always at the foremost of many companies' business priorities, however an alternative way to support our Club is to take out a table at our very popular Sportsman's Dinner. This held each year at the end of October/Beginning of November. Details of this year's dinner have not yet been finalised but in the past we have had some iconic rugby stars such as Sean Fitzpatrick (NZ), Scott Quinnell (Wales) and Jason Leonard (England) as speakers.
