Harborne Cricket Club is launching a dedicated training programme and new teams for girls.

The Club’s youth team sheets already include girls, but with the rising profile of the national women’s game – driven by the popularity of the T20 and The Hundred formats – we feel the time is right to establish female-only squads, supported by specialist training.

Warwickshire CC has endorsed the initiative and will provide additional training support and advice on career pathways for those interested in pursuing a professional cricketing career.

To get the ball rolling, we’re providing four softball taster sessions on Friday 29 July, Friday 5 August, Tuesday 9th August (Hosted by Warwickshire County Cricket development team) and Friday 12 August. The sessions will cost £40 in total, which can be signed up for on our Pitchero site by purchasing the "2022 Girls cricket" product in the club shop (see details below).

Sessions start at 18.00 and will last 1.5 hours at our Old Church Road ground, Harborne (B17 0BX).

Initially we’re aiming to establish Under 11 and Under 13 girls’ teams – the Harborne CC Swans – to enter local competitions and to complement the youth boys teams, six Saturday and three Sunday adult teams that have helped make Harborne one of the largest cricket clubs in the Midlands.
