INTERVIEW: Richard Pacquette

INTERVIEW: Richard Pacquette

C W19 Apr 2019 - 09:56

We sat down with Richard...

How has the season been so far? You must have been happy to win promotion the other week

(RP) The season has been good since I’ve joined Harefield Utd. From when I stepped through the door Jason and all the staff made it clear that the clubs objective was to get promoted and with my experience I could add to what they already had. Winning promotion the other week that will be my 3rd in my career which I’m delighted with however the job is not finished yet because the one thing I don’t have on my CV and many other players don’t is winning the league unbeaten so fingers are crossed lol.

How much would it mean to you and the team going the whole season unbeaten?

(RP)It will mean a lot to me and the team to go unbeaten I keep stressing the importance of it in training and b4 matches like I said before there aren’t many players that can say they have done it and it’s something we will all remember. Huge credit goes to Jason, Mike and all of the other club members for there hard work we have not had many days off even over Christmas when we had no games so for a step 6 club everything is in place for us to go out and perform the club is ran like a step 4 and 3 club.

What do you make of the Club ambition to get to the Southern league within 5 years?

(RP)It’s something that is very possible I wouldn’t have joined if the club did not have ambition I’m still hungry for more success and I want to be a part of it.

What are your thoughts on the club growing with 2 ladies side’s starting next season?

(RP) This is very good for the club because I think the ladies team is the missing jigsaw to this good club, as we have a good youth set up from the little ones up to the u18.

What will be the aim next season for yourself and the team?

(RP) My aim next season will be to continue to score goals, help the youngsters and continue to pass on my knowledge. The teams aim for me will be to be in that top half of the table fighting for something.

What made you want to join Harefield?

(RP) I joined Harefield because two good friends of mine Micheal assistant manager and Ryan Wharton who is a player-coach knew my former club Thamesmead was folding and told me to come and watch them play to see if I would like it. I met Jason and he told me the clubs plans and said I can get involved with the coaching as well then the rest was history after liking what I saw.

How have you helped the younger players on/off the field?

(RP) I have done different types of finishing drills with the forwards I constantly speak to all the youngsters giving them tips and advice always encouraging them and making them believe in themselves. Also, I’m another voice for Jason and mike on the pitch. I’ve been in the game a long time and played under loads of managers so I just try to share my experience.

Best game you have played in?

(RP) The best game I’ve played in has to be my F.A. cup game for Havant against Liverpool and scoring at the Kop end.

We then asked Richard some quick-fire questions.
