Away at Enfield

A much better performance!

As I missed writing a quick report for last Sunday I'll combine the visit from Tabard RFC in with this!
The visit from Tabard again highlighted the areas that needed working on - too many missed tackles, not enough conviction in the ruck and not using space around the pitch!
That said, many of the players continued to work hard and improved every game.
Though disappointing, the coaches knew that the U10's had it in them to improve.
Player of the week went to Aaron who showed the rest of the team what was needed in the ruck as well as general great play around the field. Rucker of the week went to Nial and tackler of the week was awarded to Will. Well done to all of them.

So on rolled another Sunday - cold and wet this time so not the best of conditions to be traveling to Enfield! Datchet were also visiting and gave the opportunity to play agianst a good mix of teams.
A good away turn out of 15 showed that the commitment was there with the boys (and parents to get them there!!).
A round robin of matches was started after a quick warm-up session.
We decided to continue with rotating players out of the team on a regular basis and much of the decision making was to be based on player effort!!
From the off in the first game The Harrow squad was playing better than we had seen in the past weeks. Despite the cold, the basics were starting to click in to place again.
As with past games, our boys were a little slower to get up to speed, but soon started scoring and defending well.
The signs of improvement continued in the next two matches and the quick rotation of players seemed to be making the point!
It was really great to see that the wings were being used better and the ball was being passed more readily when it could be, rather than when it had to. Some lovely tries were scored when the ball was kept moving and in to space.
We will still need to work on the tackling and rucking - but things are definitely looking up!!
Our player of the week went to Louis who showed fantastic skill, grit and determination through all games. Will again became the recipient of recognition, this time as our rucker of the week and Odi was our tackler of the week. Congratulations to all.

As a coaching team we are looking forward to 3 weeks of home training without any visitors so that we can build on the successes shown on Sunday.
Much of what happened on Sunday was I believe down to the players self-belief and their determination not to let a dip in performance spoil their ability to play the game of rugby well!
