Busy April for Harrow Minis & Youth teams

Neil MacDonald16 Apr 2024 - 19:13

Start touring when you're young - Harrow U11s would agree with that! Youth matches and still 2 Festivals to go.

Our U11's team went on tour last weekend, for the first time. They took part in a Mini rugby tournament in Bournemouth and had a great time. They also played some rugby in 4 matches against other touring sides. Well done to them, the coaches and everyone who helped make it happen!

Meanwhile our U13s hosted Fullerians in a friendly which went right to the wire with 7 tries apiece until the last minute. Harrow U13 Coach Bez gave us this commentary (and he also reffed the game!):
"The Harrow U13s boys did us all proud today. Playing a friendly against a strong Fullerians side in the table above, who got off to a quick start with three tries in succession from the off, it was looking ominous for Harrow, to be honest, but the boys worked hard to fight back and at half time the score stood at 20-15 to Fullers.
The second half was a proper rugby tussle between the two teams and was drawn even at 35-35 and with two minutes to go Harrow gave away a cheap penalty for a high tackle 5m from their own try line, at this point Harrow switched off and defended poorly allowing the Fullers prop to crash over the whitewash from the tap, 40-35 and with 30 secs left to the end of the match, Harrow chose to receive the restart kick which was caught keenly in the 5m channel but fumbled at the next breakdown, Harrow knocked the ball on and the Referee blew his final whistle.
A really good game to watch, both teams demonstrated exemplary rugby core values and above all both sets of boys had an absolute blast which is all that matters in the end! Thank you to the Fullerians RFC coaches, players and parents for being such a good opposition and we look forward to seeing you again in the 2024/2025 season."
