A fine dry morning with an early start at Old Grammarians saw the full squad warming up for a three way session against a touring Berlin RFC team.

First match against OGs saw Galloway take the KO and drive route one into the opposition. This allowed early ball sent along the line with real pace to put the speedsters on the wings into space which they did with surgical precision. Jarell decided he wasn't going to let the fast boys have all the fun and drove the mauls with power to go over the line. However, it was our defence that was impressive throughout the entire day. We communicated well and we remained straight as a die all day. On the odd occasion we did let someone slip past the drift defence was excellent with double hits coming in every time. Defence pressed all day hitting the opposition back behind the gain line time after time. A planned move off the base of the scrum was called and worked superbly. Jamie H fired a fast ball to Jamie S and the X1 move provided the desired mis match. Jamie S at full speed against a winger half his size. No contest and it was try time! Final score Harrow 7 tries OGs 1.
Probably the best performance of the season.

Second match was against an OG side noticeably bigger than the first. They were well drilled and had some serious pace. However, the defence was looking solid all day. They OG forward coach had done his homework and they were excellent at the ruck and maul.A real tough one this and a deserved 1-1 draw.

The third game was against a very well drilled Berlin RFC side. Our first ever 'International'. We held our line and pressed hard keeping the German attack pushed back all day. They had real pace in their 11 and 15 but its hard work when under this amount of defensive pressure. Our communication was really good and we hammered them back with every tackle. The rucks were much better and with some precision passing we spun the ball quickly to the speedsters with Elliot , Sean, Benj and Take showing that there is no substitute for pace, especially give the time and space as we did today. Final score 3-2 to Harrow.

Player of the day could have gone to everyone but Take stood out both in defence where he hammered everyone and also in attack where he showed his class and pace.

What was particularly pleasing was the way we communicated, especially in defence which was faultless. We never looked like letting a tackle miss and when we did the drift cover was superb.
The planned X1 move was brilliantly executed and some of our attack was a sheer joy to watch. Well played the entire squad , great teamwork today!

In true International spirit we exchanged club pennants with the touring side and posed for team photos which I will put on the club website.
