The presence of underground vermin has been noticed at the edges of our grounds recently and it now looks like they have made a concerted move to the pride of our club – the main floodlit pitch. This is the pitch that has become the envy of local clubs and has supported some excellent senior and youth rugby for the past few seasons, all of which is now threatened.
Mole infestations are notorious in rendering playing surfaces unusable and referees would normally instantly abandon a game with so much as a whiff of a mole hill on the pitch. It is thought that unauthorised use of the pitch for training may have encouraged the moles to move towards the centre of the pitch.
The club now has to take drastic action and is appealing for help from the membership. Anyone with any experience of mole eradication techniques and technology are asked to get in contact.
Especially any members with a shotgun licence and a good torch who are prepared to give a few nocturnal hours of their time will be very welcome.
