Regents Park visit

Regents Park visit

Matthew Padgham9 Oct 2016 - 19:21

The U10's had to work hard

Regents Park brought 20 players with them which made our training area seem very small!
The visitors got stuck in to the tackling and rucking drills that we have been using for the last couple of weeks and seemed to be at a level similar to our squad.
With such large numbers, RP were able to split their players in to 3 teams which meant that our two teams didn't get a rest!
The games proved to be a mix, RP's more able group were a strong opposition and meant our players had to work hard. It was great to see that the commitment to tackle was improving with a growing number of the players and that we had fewer in off-side positions. We could still do with teammates supporting others in the tackle and helping them bring the opposition down as well as better communication between themselves.
As the players are getting bigger the knocks are getting harder, especially in the ruck. A few injuries were picked up but the players on the receiving end of a std or wayward tackle soon made themselves forget that they were sore, and they got straight back in to the game. I'm sure the players found today's session to be one that again was building their skill and confidence when they all played together and supported one an other.
Player of the week was awarded to Niall, he had a great game and showed a great deal of grit and determination both in attack and defence and did not let himself get frustrated by the opposition! Well done.
As was mentioned at the end of the session, we are away at Twickenham next week, details will follow via Karlene.
