Coaches report:
A lovely sunny Sunday morning greeted us and our visitors from Hemel Hempstead RFC.
After several really good sessions, the U11’s were keen to be pitting their wits against a visiting team.
We decided to focus the pre-match training on securing the ruck which had been an area that some were still struggling with.
Hemel had 9 players so we decided to have rolling subs so that players were not left standing around too long.
Right from the first whistle Harrow were playing really well, the ball was being moved around nicely and ball was being won or retained in the ruck. What was great to see, was that every player on the pitch really wanted to be there - communication was better and when subbed, the boys couldn’t wait to get back in the pitch.
After an initial lead, Hemel started to claw back some points, some great places kicks had Harrow defending quite a few points on and around our try line. Some dogged tackling and rucking saw points saved and evidenced the good work being done in defence.
Harrow continued to play superbly and ended up victorious! As coaches, it was really pleasing to see many of the newer players really getting stuck in and working well as part of the team - Michael, Kalil and Liam, well done!
Special mentions go to Charlie and Killian for their tackling & Lochan for acting on the skills session input and securing the ruck.
Player of the week went to Asher for his all round awareness and game play both when scoring tries and working hard in defence.
Congratulations to ALL the team!
