Another dry Sunday was very welcome to get back into training. After a big warm up with the 6’s & 7’s, which included some energetic follow my leader, we stayed together for a quick round of bulldog before splitting off the U8’s. A quick team photo and we got into some directed 3/4 aside games where the focus was on brining back up to scratch the skills we had form last season. It was great to see the cobwebs around passing backwards and running straight blowing away as we progressed and, after we seemed to be back in touch with our skills, we then merged and had a 7 aside game for the first time on the full size under 8’s pitch. With all the extra space the focus over the next couple of weeks will be using it and not bunching together but also not spreading out so far that the support is lost - a fine balance! It seemed like everyone really enjoyed getting back into some proper rugby especially getting our new players more involved. We then got back together with the 6’s & 7’s for a final game of bulldog against the Parents, which is always fun (hopefully for both sides!). A great amount of effort put in by everyone which was great to see.
Player of the week this week was Sam G for always getting into support positions and some fantastic supporting plays.
We are at home again next week for training so look forward to seeing you all there.
