It was good to see that a good number of you managed to make it to High Wycombe on Sunday. Visitors from Watford RFC were also in attendance so we were able to get the team playing several matches in a round robin.
As I was under the weather, I left the training to Michael, Kevin and Pete and the squad were pretty soon in action, we rotated the players so that they all had a chance to play competitively against either Watford or High Wycombe. The games were as in the last few weeks pretty close, though I didn’t see them all, I don’t get the impression that we were at any time completely outplayed. I did see some wonderful dodging and weaving in attack by many of the squad, many tries were scored on the line with the defenders unable to grab the tag because of a deft last minute twist of the hips!
In the cold, the ability to grab a tag has proving to be harder and some bunching in defence was leaving some gapping holes - oh, well back to revisiting the defensive line then!!
All in all, another great experience for them all and nice to have a mix of opposition. We didn’t award player of the week but I saw some really good play from all of them - you really wouldn’t believe that they are the same bunch who started only 3 months-or-so ago. We’re back at home next week with a visit from Ruislip, I’m away but the squad will have the expertise of the rest of the coaches to hand!
