It was great to see so many of the team after the Christmas break, and with Old Verulamians and Watford sharing the training, we had a great opportunity to put look at applying the practice we had put in place before Christmas.
The warm up worked well with the OV players happily mixing in with the Harrow players (the Watford squad were happy to warm themselves up!).
With enough bodies to put together 2 Harrow teams we were able to play a round-robin of matches. The initial games were not great - both teams lost and seemed a bit shell shocked! After a regroup and reminder of the core basics needed to overturn the slow start, both teams played the second round of matches with more conviction and determination. This led to much better attacking play, building pressure and keeping the ball narrow. in defence the teams were stronger and finally remembered how to ruck and support each other! We ended with a draw and a win! Much more like it.
The session was finished of with both Harrow teams playing each other with continued confidence.
Player of the week was awarded to Louis, congratulations. Charlie for tackler and Aron for rucker, well done to those two also.
We are away at Chess Valley next week.
