Season 11
1943/44
Bill Saunders took over the managerial reins when John High joined the Royal Navy.
An improve league position of fourth was achieved despite the continuing loss of players & staff to the war effort.
R. Stass was top scorer with 24 goals in the season , that included eight in one match.
A run of five straight wins late in the season included a 4-1 win at Loftus Road over Queens Park Rangers juniors.
Denis Russell & Dickie Bird were selected to play for the league representative team.
The reserves improved dramatically to finish 2nd in the Harrow & Wembley League, Two long term players & latter officials of the club , Kenny Gee & Cyril Ward made their debuts.
Sadly two Harrow players were killed in action during the season, Norman Peck & George Harris. Goalkeeper Jack Lee would also lose his life serving with the RAF in the Normandy landings in June 1944.
