Season 13. 1945/46

Harrow returned to the Spartan League for the 1945/46 season , with some clubs not ready to resume after the war, the league was divided into three regional divisions. Harrow competed in the Central Division and finished in fifth position. Bill Saunders continued as manager & Jimmy Jackson as captain.
We started the season with five straight wins scoring 39 goals., making progress in the F.A. Cup (beating Berkhamsted 8-0 & Kings Langley 7-1) and the F.A. Amateur Cups (v Lyons Club 10-1). We welcome Wealdstone to Earlsmead for an F,A. Cup 2nd qualifying tie. The local paper described it as a fast and thrilling game played before a record crowd at Earlsmead. The visitors scored just before half time but inside right R. Gibbons equalised for Harrow to earn a replay. Our F. A. Cup run ended at Lower Mead, then the following week another big crowd at Earlsmead saw Edgware end our interest in the Amateur Cup. We played 11 cup games only 5 league games by Christmas, eventually finishing a respectable fifth after a run of only one defeat in the spring.
Gordon Box was top scorer in his last season at the club to bring his total to 79 , a then club record. Striker Harry Roberts returned to the club just before the end of the season after a six year absence having been serving in the Royal Navy throughout the war.
