Season 17. 1949/50

George Blacklee, who was awarded an M.B.E in 1946 for his services in the Royal Army Ordnance Corps., stepped up from the junior team manager to take over from Eric Boden as first team manager during the 1949/50 season. It was to be a disappointing season. Harrow suffered defeat at the first hurdle in all the cup competitions & some heavy league defeats. A league double over the Met Police in the opening weeks of the season had given some hope , but a only a last day of the season win at Slough had lifted Harrow out of the bottom two. The scorers that day were Richardson, Wright (2),and Wood (2) in a 5-4 victory. High profile friendlies against Football League clubs, Charlton (0-0) and Brighton (2-2) were a welcome distraction.
The Leading scorers were Alan Bridges and Alec Bonner with ten goals each.
The Reserves finished as Runners Up in the Great Western Combination for a third consecutive year.
A licensed bar was opened in the pavilion and was seen to be the “making of the club”.
