Roy Churchill was now the permanent manager and along with team captain John Wood had restored some spirit in to the team. Exits at the first hurdle in the F.A. Cup at Baldock Town and in the Amateur Cup to Hampton were a disappointment. League form was respectable with wins over Wingate (2-1 Harvey & Coast scored), Windsor & Eton (3-0 Walker, Coast, Eales), Worthing (2-1 Yorke, Walker) and Hemel Hempstead (2-1 Coast, Walker) plus a number of draws helped obtain a decent mid table position. Progress in the London Senior Cup with victories over Ulysses and Crockenhill before going down to Athenian Premier Division side Bishops Stortford 2-1 (Ted Yorke scoring) and in the Middlesex Senior beating Borough Road College, then Old Latymerians and Willesden before falling narrowly to Finchley (1-2 ,Eales) seemed to be progress in the making. On the Saturday before Christmas Boro lost a close contest to Rainham Town, having a goal harshly disallowed then missing a penalty in a 2-3 defeat. Little could they have known they would fail to win any of the remaining twenty fixtures that season. Five matches were drawn including a 4-4 at Ruislip Manor where Clive Coast, John Eales (2) and Geoff Scrimshaw scored. A final position of third bottom at least avoided having to seek re-election for a second year running. The leading scorers were Clive Coast and John Eales both on ten goals.
