A season when Harrow struggled to find any regular supply of goals had started with a 2-1 home win over Epsom & Ewell, Peter Bennet and Tommy Ellerback scoring. A 1-0 win at Uxbridge and a 0-0 draw at Ware added to the points tally before beating Corinthian Casuals away in the London Senior Cup (1-0, Ellerback) and Epsom & Ewell again in the League Cup (2-1 Talmage, Ellerback).
We then were drawn to play Wealdstone in the F.A.Cup, who had just joined the professional ranks of the Southern League. Boro players raised their game and matched our neighbours but the story of the season, not being able to put the ball in the net, cost them glory The stones won with a single Gary Townsend goal in the second half.
We then drew 1-1 at Hemel Hempstead in the Amateur Cup conceding the equaliser three minutes from time; both clubs had been unhappy with the referee and had requested that a different official should be appointed for the replay. Unfortunately for Harrow Mr J. Flynn was still in the middle and his decisions left local Sports editor Phil Sugden “blinking in disbelief”. Hemel took the lead after 22 minutes, and then Tommy Higgins scored to draw level at half time. In a period of just ten second half minutes Mr Flynn gave three penalties to Hemel , all taken by Goddard, one of which was missed In the same ten minutes he had sent off Boro defender Tommy Dicks and Hemel had scored a goal in open play. The Harrow ten went all out attack with Bob Conroy reducing the arrears before Paul Hind though he scored a third only for the referee to disallow it. The final insult was when Harrow were awarded a free kick on the edge of the box that the man in the press box was sure was about two feet inside the area!
Athenian League Premier Division reigning champions Dagenham came to earlsmead in the League Cup & like Wealdstone wet away with a 1-0 win.
The league season was generally disappointing, a third win over Epsom & Ewell this time by 4-0 with Alan Steaggles, Willy Groves(2) and Mark Talmage scoring then a home win over Edgware by 3-0 with Steve Short, Bob Conroy and Tony Saunders on target helped Boro finish 13th.
A young reserve goalkeeper Les Currell had made his debut during the season. He would feature in some of the clubs greatest moments over the next 15 years.
Top goal scorer was Bob Conroy with eight goals.
Coach Peter Jones had resigned early in the season He was replaced by former Queens Park Ranger player Frank Sibley who had recently had to retire from professional football at the age of 24.
