Season 43. 1975/76

Harrow Borough’s first Isthmian League fixture ended in a 3-1 defeat at Chesham United, with defender Alan Earl scoring our first goal in the league. The leagues new boys had to wait until their sixth match to taste victory for the first time at York Road as Maidenhead United were beaten 3-2 with Gary Gilbert scoring two and John Brennan the other. Three of the previous matches had ended in draws including away at Carshalton, which ended four all. Steve Senior, John Cerasoli and Gary Gilbert (2) scored in that game.
We drew tough opponents in both national cup competitions. In the F.A. Cup, Isthmian League Champions Barking were held to a 2-2 draw (Gilbert & Cerasoli) before a 2-0 defeat at Mayesbrook Park in the replay. A home local derby with Hayes in the F.A. Trophy ended in a 3-1 victory for the visitors, Cerasoli scored for Harrow.
A continuous run of injuries was partly responsible for a run of only one win in nine league games resulting in being uncomfortably close to the bottom at the start of the winter. That win was a 5-4 home victory over Ware, Gilbert scored a hat-trick whilst Cerasoli and Gary Borthwick scored the others.
Results gradually improved as did our league placing, a run of four wins in the last five matches secured a ninth place finish , which was the highest of the four new clubs in the league.
Leading scorer was Gary Gilbert who netted 27 goals , John Cerasoli scored 17 and Bobby Bennett 14.

The reserves managed by Mike Tomkys reached the final of the Middlesex Intermediate Cup, Losing to Yeading.
