The season stated with three Middlesex Charity Cup games which were all won, scoring eleven goals without conceding any.
Our first seven league matches, playing in the Isthmian League Premier Division for the first time, resulted in four wins and three draws. The reigning league champions Barking were beaten 3-1 at Earlsmead, Chris Hutchings scoring twice and Frank Seward the other.
Mike Tomkys had suffered a major blow to his plans early in the season as a cartilage injury kept striker Peter Sharratt out of the side for over two months.
We made early exits in both national cup competitions as Witney Town triumphed 4-1 in the F.A.Cup (Peter Caines scored) whilst Wokingham won 2-1 in the F.A. Trophy (Mick Doherty).
Results were very good in the league as a top three position was maintained up until Christmas. Wins over Oxford City at home by 2-0 (Bown, M.Doherty), Staines Town away 3-0 (Caines, Manoe 2), Tooting & Mitcham at home 2-0 (Rapley, Seward) and Boreham Wood away by 4-1 with a hat-trick by a fit again Peter Sharratt, more than proved our worth at the higher level.
Both the London Senior and Middlesex Senior Cups would involve a replay and extra time before going out to Carshalton Athletic and Enfield.
In the Middlesex Charity Cup semi-final another clean sheet as Finchley were beaten 2-0 with goals from Peter Caines and Harry Manoe
The Final against Hayes on their own ground was won by four goals to nil, courtesy of another Peter Sharratt hat-trick and a rare Ray Metz strike as Boro lifted a Middlesex Senior trophy for the first time.
League form slipped away a little later in the season, but a fine win away to Leatherhead by 4-1 (Pearce, O'Driscoll, Stein & Rapley) and at home championship chasing Dulwich Hamlet(1-0 Caines) secured an eighth place finish
Towards the end of the season a tour to Guernsey involved two matches against the Island Representative side. Boro won them both 3-0 (Seward, Sharratt & T.Doherty)
and 1-0 (Sharratt).
Top scorer was Peter Sharratt with 30 goals followed by Eddie Stein on 13.
