A season towards which all looked forward to was shattered all too soon. Harrow had been promoted to the Spartan league Division one. John High, who remained a regular at Earlsmead for over 40 years, had taken over as team manager and we entered the FA cup for the first time. We were beaten 0-3 by Finchley on 02/09/39. The very next day war was declared and the football season was abandoned.
In November local football leagues commenced with Harrow competing in the West Middlesex Combination, finishing in mid table.
The Poster above which was advertising our first three fixtures of the season , did in fact advertise the only tree matches of the regular season.
