Travel:
Please be aware that the M3 between junctions 3 and 4 (near Bracknell) is closed in both directions this weekend. The recommended alternative route is by the M4 to Reading, then the A33 south to join the M3 at Basingstoke.
Weather:
Reports are that it has been very wet on the south coast for the last few days, putting the game into some doubt. The forecast for Friday is dry and bright but more rain is due on Saturday morning, so fingers crossed.
Last Season:
No away fixture as The Boatmen finished second behind AFC Totton in the Southern League Division One South, beating Wimborne Town and Hamworthy United in the playoffs to gain promotion.
Boro won the home fixture 3-2 in September, surviving a late Sholing fightback. Our goals came from Harlem Hale and two from Reece Mitchell.
Season so far:
Sholing are sitting comfortably in mid table with 28 points from 20 games. Like Boro, they can be a difficult team to predict with home wins against Salisbury and Poole, but also heavy home defeats to Tiverton and Basingstoke.
Their home game on Tuesday against Walton & Hersham was abandoned due to floodlight failure, but a social media post confirms everything is repaired and ready to go on Saturday.
One to watch:
Top scorer with 10 league goals, Daniel Mason. Sholing's player profile says, 'D-Dan" youngest of the Mason brothers. Has scored goals for fun for the Boatmen, hitting 280+ goals, with a goal every other game ratio. Loves a spectacular finish. A real handful for any defender, sets up as many goals as he scores'.
Under 23s
After last weekend's frozen pitch, there has also been plenty of rain at The Rogers Family Stadium this week. If the weather is kind, our Under 23s will be at home to Aldershot Town in the Suburban League Premier Division. It's a key game as Boro are currently fifth, but only a point behind third placed Abbey Rangers, with two games in hand. Due to issues with where to play their home games, The Shots have played four games fewer but are only two points behind.
Admission is Adults £3. Under 16s £1, with season tickets valid.
