We are pleased to announce that the proposed plans submitted to the RFU for the new changing facilities have been approved.

The proposal includes a single storey extension to the current changing rooms and ground floor structure, projecting 9.3 metres with a width of 28 metres.

This will contain 8 compliant en-suite player changing rooms, 2 en-suite match official rooms, first aid/physio room, storage space, accessible WC and male/female public lavatories.

The existing facility comprises 4 player changing rooms and 1 match official room.

Commenting on the news, Stewart Hind, Mini & Junior Rugby Chairman said: "With more people playing rugby here than ever before a clear need to upgrade the existing changing facilities was identified. This quickly became a priority for the first phase of the 1893 Legacy Project.

"Although there is still a long road to embark upon before we break ground we are delighted to have received approval from the RFU and we can now move on to the next stage.

"We think that the proposed plans are superb. This extension will comfortably accommodate the growing player numbers at Mayfield Park and help to ensure a sustainable future for the club."

Members and friends of Hartlepool Rugby Club can play their part in the fundraising efforts for this development through the 'Buy a Brick' campaign organised by Lee Dodgson.

For just £10 you can write your name into history and leave a legacy. Over 200 pledges have been made to date and every donor will be recognised on a display inside the new changing rooms.
