Match Preview ahead of Saturdays visit of AFC Phoenix, as ever all support truly appreciated

On Saturday we welcome AFC Phoenix to the Jones & Co Recreational Ground in Central Midlands Alliance action. We wish a warm welcome to all the players, officials, and supporters of AFC Phoenix.

As always entry for the game is £3 for adults, £2 for concessions and free for members. Toms Tea Room will be open for refreshments and the Pavilion will be open for pre and post-match drinks. Also, the Shaft Side Bar will be open throughout the game for alcoholic beverages and soft drinks. The club’s raffle will also be up for grabs so please remember to purchase your tickets. As always, your support is greatly appreciated.

We currently sit in 13th position in the league table, with 22 points after our opening 21 fixtures. On Tuesday we won 2-0 at home to St Josephs, with Cory Goodwin and Cam Till scoring. Last Saturday we won 3-2 at home to Yorkshire Main, with Marley Alder, Will Collingwood and Adam Morrison scoring. On Tuesday 19th March we won 7-1 at home to Glapwell, with Will Gomes scoring twice and Marley Alder, Will Collingwood, Aaron Pickersgill, Harvey Walker and George Walton getting the other Colliery goals. On Saturday 16th March we won 1-0 away at Staveley Miners Welfare Reserves, with Marley Alder getting the only goal of the game. On Saturday 2nd March we lost 2-1 at home to Dinnington Town, with the Colliery goal coming courtesy of an own goal.

Our visitors currently sit in 11th place in the table, with 24 points from their 24 fixtures. On Saturday they lost 3-2 at home to Kiveton Miners Welfare, with Hassan Daud and Lewis Fretwell scoring. On Saturday 16th March they drew 2-2 at home to Hatfield Town, with Keegan Hepplestone scoring. On Saturday 2nd March they won 4-1 at home to AFC Bentley, with Ashley O’Brien scoring twice, and Joshua Bennett and Keegan Hepplestone getting the other AFC Phoenix goals.

The two sides have previously met on 22 occasions, with Colliery winning 11, drawing four and losing seven of those meetings. The last time that the sides met was on Saturday 10th February at Phoenix Sports and Social Club, with AFC Phoenix winning 2-1. Will Gomes scored for Colliery, with Thomas Dainty and Hassan Daud scoring for AFC Phoenix.

One to watch for our visitors will be Keegan Hepplestone. So far this season he has scored eight times in 10 appearances.
