Last Sunday (11th) Haughley United Youth FC hosted their annual charity football tournament with an aim to not only raise some funds for the club but also to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer support. The first event was held in 2013, when the club first started, with two teams playing just one match. As the club has grown the event has steadily grown, this season the club hosted teams from Needham Phoenix Youth, Stowmarket Town Youth, Elmswell Youth, Stowupland Falcons Youth and Diss Town Youth across four age groups. Diss Town U7, Stowmarket Town U8, Needham Phoenix U13 & Stowupland Falcons U14 took the honours in each age group. The event was a huge success and enabled the club to donate £600 to Macmillan, which is something we as a club are hugely proud of. Everyone at some point in their lives is touched by this terrible disease and we feel privileged to be able to give our support in this way. Next years tournament is set to grow further with the introduction of three new teams, under 7’s, playing on Sunday mornings and two under 10’s playing both Saturday and Sunday mornings.
