The starting line up was Mark Hardy (GK), Harry Halls, Steven Griffin, Stuart Kingham (Cap), Roger Dourado, Neil Hammond, Ross Elkins, Christopher Claydon, Charles Hughes, Greg Strong, Danny Johnson. Substitutes (ALL USED) Trevor David, Lee Sharp, Ryan Churcher, Mark Lovell, George Cotiga.
The first half was fairly evenly matched with good distribution of the ball. Haverhill Rovers with slightly more possession. Approximately, 30 minutes into the game Lowestoft Town were awarded a penalty but luckily for Rovers the shot went wide. On 43 minutes, Lee Sharp had a shot on target saved by the Lowestoft keeper. At the end of the first half the score line was 0-0.
The second half was more exciting to watch as the goals began to tally up courtesy of Ross Elkins (Penalty 55 mins) and 4 further goals from Mark Lovell who was on fire with his pace and strength.
The whole team effort was magnificent. The determination, talent and sheer effort to get the right result ‘the win’ paid off.
Manager, Chick (Julian) Hardy said “the lads were outstanding as usual and turned it on when they needed to. Our lads tired them down and once we unleashed the ‘beast’ Mr Lovell in the second half our good fortune was sealed”.
The club would like to wish our Vets Congratulations and the very best of luck in the final. Their opponents Ipswich Wanderers FC Vets vs Woodbridge Town FC Vets are yet to be decided as the second semi-final fixture was postponed.
Suffolk FA will announce the venue and date of the Final shortly. We hope our win today will attract more spectators to watch them in their conquest to get silverware on the shelf in their first season back.
Overall the entire team worked its socks off today and were inspiring to watch. They gave it their all and were rewarded with the result they fully deserved. Lots of celebrations to be had!
