Two goals in injury time sent Hemel Hempstead Town Ladies through to the next round of the Women's FA Cup as they ran out 3-2 winners over a ' stunned ' Billericay Town Ladies.
At a sun drenched Vauxhall Road Hemel fell behind after seven minutes from a free kick on the edge of the area. Just two minutes later and Billericay went 2 up from the penalty spot after Hemel keeper Sasha Tucker brought down the Billericay forward. Billericay attacked in waves and had two further opportunities to stretch the lead but were denied by fines saves by Tucker. Hemels got back in to the match in the 29th minute as the tricky Nat McConville sent a 35yd cross field pass to Gemma Darvill and her fierce shot from 12yds out slammed in to the roof of the net to make it 1-2.
Three minutes in to the second half and the brilliant Nat Adams rode two challenges and chipped the advancing keeper only to see her shot bounce off the underside of the bar to safety. With Hemel pressing for the equaliser and Billericay defending deeper in there own half it was surly only a matter of time before Hemel drew level as McConville again weaved her way past three defenders and then shot wide of the goal. Manager John Bennett then sent on Steph Cripps who replaced the tiring Steph Belcher after 65th minute and Cripps flick three minutes later sent Adams through on goal, her shot rebounded of the keeper to McConville who off ballance shot wide of the open goal. With just four minutes remaining Manager John Bennett made his last change as Hemel Captain Charlene Turturici, making her first appearance of the season following an operation, replaced defender Hayley Wood-Thompson. One minute into injury time Turturici chipped a perfect ball over the Billericay defence and Adams raced on to it, the speedy striker drew the keeper and then as the defenders moved in squared the ball to Darvill who grabbed her second to make it 2-2. In the 93rd minute with extra time looming it was Hemel' s Captain Turturici who again out smarted the Billericay defenders as she placed a quickly taken free kick in to the path of striker Cripps who cleverly controlled the ball 25yds out before chipping the on rushing keeper to give Hemel a memorable 3-2 victory and passage in to the next round of the FA Cup.
