Last night topped off a great season and no one can argue winning 10 and drawing 1 game the outcome was always going to Be a league and cup double. After being part of the 2003\2004 double winning squad to achieve this as manager as well is a fantastic achievement 10 years on. I took the managers job 3 seasons ago knowing the possibility of trying to assemble a team in division 2. The league kept us in divison 1 and the rebuilding started. In my first season we achieved a creditable 5th in a ever improving division. The following season players came and went but again we went one better and 3rd place was secured. Knowing now about the level of football we were playing I set my squad promotion as a target for this season. Again players left/retired but kept the core as was able to add again with players returning. A great start to the season saw us by Christmas progressing up the league with John Stead joining in October from Lytham Town. Christmas saw first team regulars Josh Norgate and Ben Goodson leave to go abroad but were fortunate to see the return of James Connolly and Will Morris back to the club. As always a long lay off after Christmas and teams above us playing saw us in 3rd and chasing Lostock st Gerard's and Hurst Green. A blip in league form with back to back defeats at Burscough and Lytham with players out rocked the boat. From then on we won 10 and drew 1 game from all league and cup games is just form of well worthy double winners. All the squad has chipped in having 16 available has made this so much easier week in week out the commitment outstanding. By no means has it been easy managing quite a few rollercoaster games, but my special thanks goes to my assistant Jamie Johnsdon . His training outstanding through the season and been there for advice when needed and there week in week out win or lose.Captain Daniel Birkby on and off the pitch has been superb. The chairman/secretary Paul Sergeant all his hard work off the pitch has been rewarded by my first team and he can be proud of being chairman of our ever improving club. There is still a lot of hard work to do Andy Cope and Morgan Dodgson again been exceptional in all off the pitch activities. We still need more help off the pitch if you have read this and interested please don't hesitate to get in touch. Time for a rest for a few weeks from me and looking forward to great presentation.
