MILDENHALL TOWN PREVIEW (SAT 15TH)

MILDENHALL TOWN PREVIEW (SAT 15TH)

Chris Daines11 Mar - 09:30

We look ahead to the visit of Mildenhall Town - their last visit was back in February 2019.

Swifts won the game at Mildenhall in December with goals from Mark Chidi & Charlie Stimson in a 2-0 victory.
We had previously met in the 2018/19 season - when we played Mildenhall Town on three occasions. We lost 0-1 away in August 2018 in the Velocity Trophy and drew 1-1 in our home League game in February 2019 when Matt Price scored for us and Toib Adeyemi scored an own goal for the visitors.
In between those games was the League match away at Mildenhall Town in early October 2018 - this saw Julian Dicks in charge for his first game and Chris Haigh made his debut in goal. Swifts won 4-3 with Dan Walker scoring two and goals also from Matt Price & Nick Brown. Both Manny Osei-Owusu & Evans Kouassi played for Mildenhall Town in that match. Midenhall Town were relegated back to the Eastern Counties League at the end of that season.
Swifts did the League double in 2017/18 winning 2-1 at home (Reece Grant 2) and 2-0 away (Kreshnic Krasniqi & Jack Cawley). We also beat Midenhall Town 4-2 at home in the Velocity Trophy (Sam Bantick, Juan Luque, Luke Callender & Ben Griffiths).
Mildenall lost 0-3 away to Redbridge last weekend and had won four and drawn one of their last 10 games, including wins over Haringey Borough, Maldon & Tiptree, Wroxham & Ipswich Wanderers.
Mildenhall have the joint 3rd best defensive record with just 39 goals conceded in their 33 games. We know their keeper Josh Pope (brother of England keeper Nick Pope) well from his time at Soham Town Rangers.
Scoring goals has been the problem with just 29 (2nd lowest) in their 33 League games and their joint leading scorers are Ben Nolan & Jarid Robson & Ryan Swift with 5 each.
