1. LAST YEARS MINUTES

The minutes of last year’s A.G.M were read and approved.

2. President’s Report

Welcome to the AGM of Heyford Athletic Football Club covering the period ended 30th April 2013.
The season has seen a challenging time, both on and off the pitch. This time last year, it was doubtful whether the club could exist in its previous form. However, with the introduction of a new member of the committee, this individual introduced new zest into the club, strengthening the committee and stabilising the playing structure of the club.
We now have a committee with honesty and integrity, and a management team that will strengthen the playing side. We look forward to better times ahead.

3. Chairman’s Report

Welcome to this year’s AGM.
Once again, this has been a challenging year, although, as the season has progressed, there has been clear evidence that significant progress is being made on and off the field.
We were very fortunate to manage to get a strong committee in place fairly early on in the season and, through their considerable hard work, we have managed to stabilise the club and lay sound foundations for the coming season.
I would like to record my sincere thanks to everyone on the committee – senior and youth/junior representatives alike; as well my thanks to people not on the committee, but who have made a large or small contribution to the club – every little counts.
On the playing front, there are a few things that have led me to be disappointed:
• Having to cancel games through a lack of players – no one is to blame, just circumstances;
• Our disciplinary record, particularly earlier on in the season – however in defence of this, it was a very difficult period for our players;
• Our behaviour, particularly towards referees, has let us down at times, I feel there a few excuses around this;
• The lack of revenue through subs and the level of outstanding fines;
• The fact that money has gone missing and/or is unaccountable for;
Having said all of the above, there are many more things to be proud of:
• Our young players, who were here at the beginning of the season, have stuck with it and I have massive respect for them;
• We’ve signed some new players who are a fantastic fit with the types of players we are looking for;
• We had older/more experienced players prepared to travel to help us out;
• We’ve had managers who have worked hard and we go into the new season with a strong management team;
• We’ve got a junior and youth set up that is perhaps better than most of us realise – we must capitalise on this. I think I should specifically say ‘well done and thank you’ to Anita – an incredibly capable person and one hell of an asset to our club;
• We’ve had great functions where the organisation and attendance has been outstanding;
• The way our pitch is maintained and presented constantly receives praise;
• Our first team linesman has won awards and is always there;
• Our Secretary has been fantastic, despite difficult personal circumstances;
• Our treasurer has been extremely loyal in giving us an extra season and he leaves us in a strong financial position – possibly stronger than we’ve been for a long time;
• We’ve got individuals who, without doubt, put the club before themselves and they are great people to be around;
• We’re now seen as integral and working in partnership with Heyford Sports Clubs;
• I could go on as there are many other aspects to be proud of but I’ll go on all night – but before I stop, there is one more...... and that is, we’re putting the Heart back into Heyford Athletic Football Club and other clubs are becoming envious of us....
So, I conclude my report by saying, ‘there were times early on in the season when I questioned my wisdom about getting back involved with football. However, I can now honestly say – ‘thank you Bern for the invitation’ and thank you for your support.
I hope that the momentum that we’ve now created continues into the coming season and that all club members enjoy what happens on the pitch next season as much as they’ve enjoyed what’s happened off the pitch this season.

4 FINANACE REPORT

You all have a copy of the financial statement in front of you (see page 3 for copy). In the 12 months to 30th April 2013, the funds of the club have increased from £905 to £1944 mainly due to an increase in fundraising of £1900,which included £1300 from Barclay’s £ for £ scheme. This was somewhat negated by unrecoverable player fines increase of £180 and a reduction in senior subscriptions of approx £1000. This issue has to be fully addressed next season. There were other plusses and minuses, and if you have any questions please direct them to me.
I would like to thank all who have helped me in my 20+ years and wish Brian all the success in his role. I would also like to wish Heyford Athletic a stable future and much success.
