HIBS MUNICH TOUR – OKTOBERFEST 2014
Lads,
We’re looking at doing at international tour this year for Oktoberfest in Munich (September). The tour will include (subject to being arranged – but we’re planning on it):
Game vs a social football side
Tour of BWM Museum
Tour of Allianz Arena
Subject to availability a Bundesliga (Bayern / Augsburg) or TSV Munich game
And Oktoberfest
Obviously along with this there will be time to do what Hibs lads do. Drink beer, have fun, talk shit and if you’re single, scout for a fraulein or two (subject to availability).
Sketchy plans are to depart Singapore on to arrive Munich by Monday 22nd September and try and depart to be back in Singapore for the following Monday (probably means leaving Sunday 28th September). Helping us on the ground will be ex-Hibs goal machine and now a boring lawyer in Munich, Michael ‘the Doc’ Koch, so we will have the inside information on the best place to go for a drink or to get a binding last will drawn up in German. Doc has already scouted a hotel for us in Munich, which will be business level i.e. clean and functional.
Being upfront, I would expect the tour to be relatively expensive with the rooms being around 250 euro a night (although would propose twin share may make that more reasonable). All up, with flights though I would be budgeting around $4 to 5,000 SGD. That’s not $4 either but short for $4,000 for those cheapskates or scousers who may think they can sneak over there for less than a fiver.
“OK – You’ve got me. What do I need to do now?”
Great, so you’re interested. Obviously a tour like this can only go ahead with a significant amount of planning. It is therefore unfair to be entertaining dreamers so I am after anyone who is interested to drop me an email with a % as to how likely they are to go “i.e. I am Ben, I am 87.5% likely to go”. Actually just say you’re 100% or 50%. Using a special formula I will then feed this into my statistical spreadsheet and come up with a likely number of certainties based on those responding. We really need at least 10 fully confirmed, committed Hibbees who can stump up the cash and take a weeks leave in September. Ideally these lads should also have a boss who doesn’t mind them coming back to work after the trip, reeking of piss with a new found interest in pickled cabbage and public nudity.
So, drop me an email at roger.clay@gmail.com letting me know. After 2 weeks or 14 days (whichever is sooner) I will tally up the numbers. If there is sufficient interest I will then start putting together a schedule and will call for an initial deposit to ensure I am not dealing with people living in an alternate reality.
Think about the fun we could have, start practicing the dambusters theme, tell the missus and then drop me an email letting me know your up for it..
Cheers
Roger
