Friendly Foes Face Off at Fortress Fraser Park

Highland moved top of the league on Saturday with a thumping victory over Fort William. This Saturday sees local rivals Northern Counties cross the water to new look Fraser Park.

Both teams have recently invested much energy in boosting both personnel and playing conditions. The game against Fort William seeing the first match on what groundkeeper Smith terms the 'show pitches'! Skipper Nixon will be hoping Smith can manage to produce a decent playing surface but also manages to score some runs!

That said, Wolton and Crabbers scored heavily on sat and will be looking to get in amongst the runs. Highland also possessing a dangerous middle order including (potentially) Laidler, Nixon and Clement.

On the bowling side 'you wouldn't like me when I'm angry' Richard Thompson has made a welcome return from lambing and young Hassan has looked dangerous. However, Counties possess some bowling threat of their own.

Last year's top wicket taker (Jess Mills) is in the Counties' ranks and so too is the dangerous Eshwara. Highland cannot afford to take Counties lightly as they are a dangerous outfit on their day.

With the bat they have one of the league's best batsman in skipper Dugdale who, by his own admission, has mellowed this year! We'll have to wait and see!

It certainly promises to be a good match up and we would invite everyone to attend and perhaps get hold of a Cobbs cake (or sandwich)!
