The Gorillas22 Dec 2015 - 21:15

New Gorillas administration

The Gorillas were established in 2014 as a rugby club to raise funds and awareness for the UK military charity Hire a Hero. Since then, the club has grown rapidly and our increasing group of members and supporters have undertaken a plethora of events and schemes to the point where at the end of 2015, we were unable to fulfil all the opportunities being presented to us. In order to keep up the momentum with our growth and maximise the opportunities to support Hire a Hero, we have decided to link up with the 1820 Foundation who are a full time UK military charity and social enterprise. 1820 Foundation will take on all the administrative duties which were previously conducted by our Gorilla volunteers, which will enable those volunteers to spend their very generous time 'out on the ground' spreading the message by conducting events and schemes. 1820 Foundation are a non-profit organisation and will use their own financial channels to absorb the Gorillas role, ensuring all of the Gorillas fundraising money can remain 100% beneficial to Hire a Hero. We are sure this move will enable the Gorillas to continue to grow and increase our support to Hire a Hero over the forthcoming years, which we feel is going to be vital as the public's support of military charities is stretched now that combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan mean less media coverage for the work of our Armed Forces.
