Other exciting news

Police Rugby's Head of Elite Performance Rugby, Colonel H. Bunkernutt, revealed today that in a surprising turn of events the club is being sued for failing to physically abuse a former player.

A writ delivered to the Sports Dwarf Bar at Boundary Street alleges that former 1st team winger Loss Rockie spent several seasons with Police in the mid 90s, and absolutely nothing happened to him. "My client joined the club with the reasonable expectation that he would be subjected to a humiliating initiation ceremony, and then regularly made to wear amusing costumes on a Saturday evening, but none of this transpired. He even brought his own broom handle and a pot of Vaseline to matches on several occasions, but no one seemed in the slightest bit interested. This deliberate neglect reached a pinnacle on the so-called Royal Tour in 1997 when he at no point was made to drink urine out of anyone's shoe or take off his clothes - I would go so far as to say that throughout his entire career with the Police not only was he not physically or mentally abused, he was not even provided with an amusing and derogatory nickname, which is the very least one should expect from a well-run rugby club."

Bunkernutt has vowed to vigorously defend Rockie's allegations, and in a statement issued after training said; "This is not the club I know - I have enjoyed prolonged abuse over my entire time at Police, and as soon as BJ stops flushing my head down the bog and Brian gives me my clothes back, I will see Mr Rockie in court."

In other exciting news the date of the 2018 Police Rugby Club Burns Supper has been revealed - Friday 2nd February, once again in the SO's Mess with an all-star line-up. Tickets, at a very economical $1,000 per person, can be booked up to a maximum of 8 by contacting robbie@hkrugby.com. Paid-up Rugby Club members will be given priority, and as it's also getting close to 7s ticket ordering time anyone who has not yet paid their subs is recommended to contact Chairman Brian as a matter of urgency on yycbrian@yahoo.com

This Saturday the Police 1st team are in action at 1.30pm at Aberdeen Stadium against CWB, the Panthers are supposed to be in Tin Shui Wai at 4.30pm, and the Sirens face City at 4.30pm at Tai Hang Tung.

Congratulations to young Richard Lindsay, son of Matt, who won a Hong Kong Rugby League cap against Japan last Saturday, and there is international Union action in the Cup of Nations starting this Friday at King's Park when the Hong Kong men take on Russia, Kenya and Chile...although not all at once.
