IGS fell to defeat in a evenly fought game this weekend, where individual errors were their downfall.
Eccles took an early 0-2 lead after a fine chip from their striker and a clinical one-on-one finish in the first 20 minutes. However, it was at that point that IGS seemed to wake up and scored a goal of their own as Chris Gilbert struck from 25 yards and found the net with the aid of a deflection.
Into the half time break, IGS were much the stronger side and perhaps unlucky not to have grabbed an equaliser.
Eccles scored their third shortly after the restart in play, as a long range free kick was fumbled into the path of the attacker to slot home with ease. Again, it was a huge blow for IGS but they came back strong and another long-range effort by Aaron Lorentson found the keeper lacking. At this point, the game could have gone either way again but an unfortunate flick off the head of Reece Stoneman found the far corner of the net for an own goal.
IGS didn't then have the ability to fire back and succumbed to defeat.
