IGS managed to secure only their 2nd win of the season this weekend, however it came in convincing style after a 3-0 defeat of Leybourne.
Leybourne and IGS faced off only a few weeks ago, with the visitors coming out on top 3-1 on that occasion, but in a clear sign of improvement, IGS romped to a comfortable win this time out.
The first half started quickly as both teams tried to catch the other on the attack, however after a very dubious offside flag, IGS were denied an early opener after Jay Parker's through ball to Ryan May was adjudged to find the midfielder in an offside position. Into the break, the score was level at 0-0.
IGS turned on the style in the second half and quickly established control of the game. 3 changes on the hour mark gave The Stars fresh legs and it was from this that Casey Legg won the ball high up the pitch and feed into Eddy Davis, who fired home the opener. Shortly after, George Payne was fouled in the box and stepped up to convert the resultant spot kick for 2-0 and a bit of daylight between the sides.
The third was a beautifully worked goal, finishing with Pat Cunningham stroking the ball into the net for his first this season.
Further chances followed, but ultimately, it was a very handsome win for the home side which gets The Stars back on track.
