We would like to personally welcome and introduce our three new back room staff here at Irlam FC.
ANDREW LANGFORD
Andrew Langford has been appointed as John Mains’ assistant manager. Andrew has had a great playing career, signing professional forms with Morecambe and enjoying promotion to League 2 with them, he would later have spells playing in the Conference North with Fleetwood, Workington and Droylsden. Andy has spent the last 4 years after years here at Irlam FC, we are delighted that Andrew (Langy) has accepted this role. With this he brings a wealth of playing experience and knowledge not only of this league and non-league in general, but also the club.
He is aware of the clubs ambitions, ethos and vision for the future and feels this is the right time in his career to take the step and prepare himself for the transition into the other side of the game, coaching & management. This is something he is very passionate about and cannot wait to get his teeth into his new role.
He will still be available for selection on match days, so don’t think this is the last you will see of him in the middle of the park.
JOHN JOHNSTON
John Johnston (JJ) ( PICTURED) has been appointed as our new 1st Team Player Coach, this is fantastic news for us as a club. John (JJ) holds his UEFA B qualification and can bring new and exciting ideas to the team and is a great opportunity for JJ to continue his coaching journey, something he is very passionate about.
JJ has worked his way through the non league pyramid as a player over the years, gaining promotions with Salford City, Altrincham FC and also play-offs with Chester FC. JJ has lots of experience and is excited to pass this onto the next generation of players whilst also developing himself as a coach. JJ wanted to get involved in the coaching as soon as the opportunity arose. JJ will still be playing and has a huge amount to offer on the pitch as well.
LEE WHITE
Lee White has been appointed as our new Goalkeeper coach, this is a name you will be familiar with. Whitey has been around the club since its foundations, well almost.
Lee has recently hung his gloves up due to a further knee injury resulting in 2 operations. But with 350 league appearances for Irlam between the sticks in the NWCFL, a previous winner of GK of the season, who better to have on board working with our current keepers passing on his knowledge and experience.
This role may have come a little bit earlier than he expected due to his continuing journey back from achilles surgery over the summer but we know he cannot wait to get back with the lads at the club doing what he loves best.
The club are delighted with these new appointment’s, the experience this team bring in non league football is phenomenal and we all look forward to seeing you develop in your new roles alongside manager John Main
Good luck from all the committee.
