St Athan came into this fixtures full of confidence, following a 4-1 win against Penarth Town and the Marine having to make some enforced changes due to injury, knew it was going to be a tough game for the home side.

The Marine started well and following their first attack were awarded a penalty for handball, Sam Dyer stepped up but saw his spot kick saved by the St Athan keeper. The Marine kept pressing and were rewarded in the 16 min when striker Adam Owens was put through and he cooly slotted home to put the Marine 1 up. The Marine kept pressing but St Athan were looking dangerous in attack and the Marine defence of Dicks, Ladner, Bowher, Rhyd Hopkins and Mellars were equal to the test.

If took until the final minute of the half for the Marine to find another when Owens rose above the defence to nod home his and Marine's second of the game to finish the half strongly.

The Marine started the second half well and continued to create chances. Changes were made with the introduction of Dan, Jake Rogers, Zak Sanders, Adam Sheppard and Jack Stokes. It was Dan Bell who made a great run down the right hand side and crossed to find Owens with a simple tap in to complete his hat trick. Tom Baker finished off the scoring with a brilliant individual goal to round off another victory for the Marine.

This is the third game in a row that the boys have kept a clean sheet and that is down to the whole squad who played their part.
