The event took place on the Saturday 15 September 2012 at the Mr Price Parhurst Football Academy in Westridge. The clubs could not have asked for a better day. There was jumping castles and water slides that kept the kids busy. All the clubs arrived early to set up camp close to where there teams were playing.
The atmosphere was fantastic and the soccer even better. Kenpark had 6 teams playing in the finals. We had 4 juniors teams - U/7, U/13S/L, U/13Prem, U/17Prem, and 2 senior teams - O/35 and 2nd Div.
The day started off bad for Kenpark when the U/13 Prem, coached by Jerome Muller, lost their match vs Standards Red 3-1. Then the U/13 S/L, coached by Paul Trelawney and managed by Gavin Joubert, restored some dignity by beating the highly fancied Juventus 3-0, with Zeandre van Niekerk, scoring a goal and playing a starring role. Nathan Abrahams also missed a penalty with the score at 2-0.
Then it was the turn of the U/17 Prem, coached by Graham Steyn, who played against Bayview United. Kenpark lost the game 0-1, after missing various chances to equalise and to win the match.
The U/7 Tigers then again restored some pride by winning a tightly contested match versus Woodlands, in which Kenpark was reduced to 6 players after Cody Petersen, one of Kenpark star players....They eventual won the match 1-0.
Then came the Seniors, the 2nd Division came up against a well oiled Woodlands outfit. The 2nd team score two early first half goals, but allowed Woodlands to equalise in the second half. The eventual lost 5-2 in extra time.
Then it was the turn for the o/35 vs Liverpool. Immediately from kick off, Rodney Brown put through Shudley Adams who went goalkeeper to beat but could not beat the Keeper, five minutes later Kevin Davids also went goalkeeper to beat, to be once again denied by the Liverpool keeper. Liverpool eventually got into the game and scored their first goal to take a 1-0 lead into the second half, more chances were created by Kepark but they just could not capitalise. Liverpool in the meantime made good use of their chances by scoring 2 more goals to win the game by 3-0.
Overall Kenpark had a good run in the Knock-out Finals, but only managed to secure two trophies.
