Today was our last fixture of 2019 so the boys had a great opportunity to end the year on a high. Deportivo were the opposition today & with it being a West London Derby this was always going to be an interesting match. The match began at a good tempo with both teams showing their attacking intent. The 1st real chance of the game came from Borough after some good play down the left hand side from Jamarl Joseph but his effort just went wide of the goal. The host's came back with a chance of their own but somehow their effort went in & the hosts were ahead against the run of play. The boys had to show some real character now as they started brightly but no goal to show for it. 5 minutes before the end of play Borough found themselves straight back into the game via a Isaac low strike. 1-1 at half time.
The second half started & Borough came out on the front foot attacking Deportivo's back line in waves. Not long after the pressure paid off. After some brilliant football down the middle, a through ball was played for Eva Batousol to chase down & slot past the keeper to make it 2-1.
By now Borough had control of the game & kept on pushing for the third goal but a moment of brilliance from the Deportivo winger brought the game level.
Things didn't any easier as Borough had a man sent off & had to play the last 15 minutes with 10 men. The game looked as if it was ending a draw as 3 minutes of the added 4 had been played but then a deep floated cross was put in the box by Terry Whitman who found Big Robert Jermain on the swivel, smashing the ball into the net on his 1st game for the club. With that the 3 points were in the bag & Borough went home the happier team. Now we look forward to the new year where things are starting to heat up at the top.
See you in the new year!!
