Your Hon Sec dutifully seized the opportunity whilst on a recent trip to Australia with a Lions sponsors party to meet up with some notable figures who have represented KORFC - David Kirk, Bob Egerton and Simon Wensley.
We are particularly proud as a club to number two All Black captains amongst our alumni - the first David Kirk followed by more recent Kew Anton Oliver. Now Sydney based, Kirk played in the 1987 and 1988 Varsity Matches after captaining the All Blacks to the 1987 Rugby World Cup. He was joined in the latter Oxford side (generally regarded as the strongest ever) by current Australian Team Manager and 1991 RWC winner Bob Egerton and former Wallaby winger Ian Williams.
Edgo is the only man to have represented KORFC both before and after being capped and together with Welsh fly half David Evans turned in a virtuoso performance in the joint KORFC/1988 Oxford Reunion XV which contested the 2008 Oku Memorial Trophy against London Japanese. Also playing that day was Welshman Simon Wensley, also a member of 1988 side together with Williams and who along with him went on to play for Kobe Steel's team which won seven consecutive Japanese championships in the late 1980's and early 1990's alongside fellow Kew and OURFC 1990 captain Mark Egan.
You will no doubt be grateful to your Hon Sec for his sterling efforts to keep the KORFC antipodean alumnus network up to speed.
