The inaugural Simon Dunn Memorial Match was won by Barbarians Pink, with £1,200 raised throughout the day for Terrence Higgins Trust and LooseHeadz.

On Saturday 13th April 2024, the Kings Cross Steelers and International Gay Rugby UK League (IGR) community came together to celebrate the legacy of a dear friend and much-loved sportsman with the inaugural Simon Dunn Memorial Match and Trophy. This match was played during the IGR UK League Finals at the Steelers Stadium in West Ham (see players from both Barbarian teams above).

Barbarians Pink triumphed 29 - 22 against Barbarians Blue in a closely contested and good-natured game, with over 8 teams from IGR represented across both teams.

Together, we raised an amazing £1200 during the day for our charity partners: Terrence Higgins Trust and LooseHeadz. Thank you to all the hard work of our rafflers and Barbarians teams in building this total, as well as those who took on the passing cage challenge.

LooseHeadz will use our donation to help place a mental health lead at every rugby club. You can take part in the free online Introduction to Mental Health course on the Looseheadz website. If you or someone you know ever needs non-emergency help or support, text 'RUGBY' to 85258.

Terrence Higgins Trust is the largest voluntary sector provider of HIV and sexual health services in the UK. Their current campaign is to end new cases of HIV in the UK by 2030. For information about the charity, including the services provided, please visit the website.
