Knockmitten United FC 0-2 Kingswood Castle FC
GOALS:
James Kearns '30 ⚽
Liam Delaney '42 ⚽
REPORT:
A tough place to go on a pitch that was hard to try & get any sort of passing going on it but we didn't let that deter us ? A quick passage of play saw the ever dangerous Ben Finnegan looking to play in partner Liam Delaney but he couldn't get his head on the end of a super cross. At times the home side looked to get in behind our defence but Skipper James Kearns marshalled his back line brilliantly, it was he who got on the end of a well worked corner as Finnegan sent in a quality cross that he powered home to give us the lead.
Delaney went close again sending his shot over the bar a few minutes after that. Weafer this week at rightful was causing their side all sorts of problems this time feeding Finnegan who played an exquisite ball in behind their defence which Delaney clipped over the on-rushing Goalkeeper to make it 3 goals from 3 games for him so far this campaign.
It was one way traffic in the first half, come the second we knew Knockmitten would come out strongly & when they came close to scoring Shot stopper Cian Byrne was there to block any chances created. Our subsuitions were key which freshened up our midfield prowess Baker, Mc Cormack & Kelly putting in an excellent shift & when they could looked to get Murray away on the counter attack. When they did Finnegan had a glimpse of goal looking to dink their Goalkeeper only for him to push it onto the post. The final ten minutes saw the home side struggle to break down our backline when they did get through in the last minute of the game again our number 1 Cian Byrne was out quickly to block the chance keeping our clean sheet in tack. A superb performance one we can be pleased with as the hard work on the training ground is showing.
Thanks to Knockmitten United FC & we will see them in the returning fixture later on in the season #thecastle?⚫⚽
