⚫⚪⚫⚪⚫⚪⚫⚪⚫⚪ Leinster Senior Major 1D League Result: SCORE: Kingswood Castle FC 4-2 Blackrock College AFC GOALS: Nico Byrne ⚽⚽ Conor Leigh ⚽ Allen Haverty ⚽ REPORT: A special performance last night from this group of Players, with the visiting sides first team having no game this weekend it was clear that they meant business with them packing a strong starting 11 against us ? They took the lead six minutes in which was a shock to our system but our reaction was brilliant, settling into our flowing game. Striker Nico Byrne was in unbelievable form tormenting their backline while linking up the play & testing the Goalkeeper whenever he got a chance. We should have scored earlier than we did as it was an onslaught ? we just couldn't find that finish as some last ditch defending & bad way-word finishing frustrated us all, it seemed like this could be a long night ahead!! Finally the breakthrough came just before the half time break which was a much reward with Conor Leigh powering home a close range header from a pin point Nico Byrne corner. Going in level at the break was a massive plus & a tactical change by our Management Team seen Allen Haverty enter the fray.. he's been in super form showing the depth of this squad, his link up with Murphy & Sweeney who sat just behind him contributed to Byrne scoring one minute into the second half. Five minutes later Haverty himself was full of running put pressure on a back pass that the Blackrock Goalkeeper couldn't handle & he dispossessed him to give us the lead. Three became four as a massy run by Haverty down the left wing seen him cut in laying on a shot for the oncoming Murphy, which the Keeper couldn't hold & like all good Strikers Byrne smashed home his second of the night. The post rattled from a long range effort from Ste Sweeney but credit to Blackrock as they never stopped pushing forward scoring late on but at that stage our bench was emptied all with a game plan excellently executed by each man to see out an impressive win.
