The Moorsiders travelled to bottom club Heslington,looking to bounce back from the previous week's disappointing defeat at the hands of York St Johns with a bare eleven players. The game didn't get off to a great start; on seven minutes a ball into the Kirkby box was deflected past a stranded Adam Magson in goal by Jack Dowson. However the visitors responded well to the set back, equalising on fifteen minutes; a clearance from the back by James Farrow finding Jason Brown on the left wing, who swung a cross to the edge of the six-yard box for Danny Butterworth to head home. Minutes later the home side was denied a goal by Magson, who pulled off an outstanding point-blank save, managing to get the ball to safety in the process. The second half saw the Moorsiders kicking into a stiff wind, which helped hold the ball up for their forwards to run onto, in contrast to the first when it regularly ran away from them. This paid dividends on 65 minutes, as a clearance from defence found Ryan Mintoft on the right wing, who cut infield and put the ball behind the defence for Brown to run onto. Goalkeeper Ben Willis charged off his line, reaching the ball just ahead of the oncoming forward, but failed to hold on to it, giving Brown a simple tap in to take the lead. Kirkby added a third with ten minutes to go, Sarjo Cham skipping past a couple of challenges on the left before picking out Butterworth in the centre, whose perfectly weighted ball between the Heslington centre halves found Brown, who calmly slid the ball past the advancing Willis for his second of the day.The home side gained a consolation goal on 94 minutes as a long ball down the middle by Willis somehow evaded the Kirkby defenders, allowing Adam Stelmach to run clear and put the ball past the advancing Magson. Following the match, Andy Sharman was awarded Man of the Match for his outstanding display at the heart of the Moorsiders' defence.
