The former Gorleston, Wroxham, Chelmsford and Lowestoft Town striker takes up the role vacated by Mark Willis, who left the Royals last month to take up a coaching position in Dubai.
Matty Lay, who played a valuable role in the first team management structure last season, will continue in a similar position whilst Rob Moore has been promoted to first team coach from the reserves.
Three other new additions sees Robert McKechnie join the club to assist both first team and reserves on match days and with coaching, Ian Barber will be taking on the goalkeeping coaching role with Darren Moore helping with coaching and scouting.
Kirkley chairman Paul Underdown believes McGee's knowledge of step five football will stand the club in good stead.
"Gary sprung to mind straight away when we learned Mark was leaving and we are really happy with his experience of the level we play at," he said. "He will bring a wealth of experience and we are really happy to have him on board. The club would like to thank Mark (Willis) for all his hard work and we wish him well out in Dubai."
Wayne Twomlow starts his third season as reserve team manager which is also his twenty second year at K&P. Ex player Darren Glynn re joins the K&P set up by filling the vacant role created by Rob Moore as his assistant.
The Under 23s team set up will remain the same as at the end of last season with Tom Hutchinson and Danny Baker in control.
K&P Under-18s are currently looking forward to the new season with a new management team of Simon Cushion with Matt Gooch, Terry Bird and Ben le Compte assisting.
AFC Under 18s Royals will have the management team of Graham Bunning, Shaun Norman, Ross Reader and Ross Chapman assisting.
Pre-season games for Kirkley & Pakefield FC first team squad commenced on Saturday, July 13 against royals losing to Dereham Town at Walmer Road.
This was followed last night with a visit to the Amber Dew Events Stadium for a local derby against Jamie Godbold's Lowestoft Town. Kaiden Goldspink scored the only goal of the match for K&P to win 1-0 giving Gary McGee his first win at the helm.
This Saturday, July 20th sees Waveney FC at Walmer Road (1pm kick-off) and then on Tuesday, July 23, Beccles Town are the visitors for a 7.45pm kick-off.
Harleston Town will be the visitors to Walmer Road on Saturday, July 27 (2pm kick-off).
The Thurlow Nunn League season should start on Saturday, August 3. All pre-season games will have reduced admission prices of adults £4, senior citizens £2 with under 16s free.
